I am still unsure of this tool.  Gas fluctuated too much to really determine a set price.  It also doesn't include additional insurance protection that is needed if the load requires more than the allotted amount, or amount given to the customer by the shipper.  With all of the variables that we have as transport companies, this new function really is not ideal.  If everything slows down and gas levels out however, then this tool would be great.

Could there be a possiblity of adding the class of General Frieght to this tool?  I move mostly Stone,  Skid Steers,  Backhoes,  Tractors,  palletized loads,  flat bed work.  It would be nice to be able to have the auto fill capablity for these types of loads.

The additional items categories could be,  Winch service,  forklift service, crane service, hands on loading service,  etc  etc... that would effect/affect rates.

Thanks

Russ

As a transporter of boats from 30' - 65' in length, width up to 18' and loaded height up to 17' 6". I find the tool worthless. Mileage is just part of the equation. The rest is; Beam (width), height, escorts (private and police) and dead head mileage. Oversize loads also change routes that you have to travel, sometimes by as much as 300 miles.

Hi, Mat!  After searching for several hours, I can't find any other place to ask this question (if there is another venue for these types of questions please let me know).  But, since you're the founder, I guess this is like "going to the source".  My question is this;  if the shipper pays the Uship fees up-front via depsoit, why does Uship need my CC#?  Are there any circumstances in which Uship would require me to pay that fee separate from the shipper?  If the Uship fees are paid by being deducted from the shipping charges, why the need to require my CC# before bidding?

Thanks in advance for your help!

att:

With the price of fuel and other issues, I would like to see local truckers get my business. In other words, I want to buy a houseboat in upstate NY and have it shipped to Long Island. I dont want Texas (etc) truckers listed/bidding on this run. Makes sense, right?? So if you can have their original departure location listed in their description would help a ton for the quoting process.

Thanks

Jim
