Thanks for the accolades. You think I could get you to write my Obit when the time comes. You just have a great way with words, I'll even bet you can talk a fish onto a line you forgot to put a hook on.     All in Jest Shipmate.

It is good to hear from you Mike.  I've been trying to figure out some way to get out to Vegas (to see my daughter) for a while now without having to pay all the expenses out of my pocket.  So far no luck, at least not legally.  When I do go, I want to stop by Nicksville, AZ and see another old shipmate (you should look up another retired chief named Jim Dagley if you get down around Sierra Vista area.....or just go to Nick's and you'll likely find him) and also I definitely want to go by Ron's in Mohave for a few days.  If I ever get out that close I'll try to slide on over to SD and catch up with you for a little while too.  These damn diesel prices have sure put a crimp in all my travel plans.  The motor home is gas but the gasoline price is getting almost as bad as diesel for the truck & camper.  Either one I drive gets expensive, but I still prefer the truck camper when I'm traveling alone.  That is because it is 6.5 mpg on the motor home vs 12.5 mpg on the truck with the camper on it.  I went out to the east coast for a TACAMO squadron reunion around Memorial Day and spent over $860 for fuel for the truck with the camper on it.  When nothing (no...$$) is coming in to help pay for the miles, that's a big bite out of my recreation budget.  Costs for the Alaska trip "What's Her Name" and I are planning for next year have gone out of sight and I don't know if we'll be able to do the whole thing or not.  The fuel costs alone have grown from about $4,000 when I starting planning last Summer to about $7,000 at today's prices.  I keep hoping that some time the fuel prices will level off or maybe even come down a little and I can get back in the business and make a little profit while doing a little traveling............but..... I grow less optimistic with each passing day and news cast.  Anyway, keep in touch and stay safe down in the beautiful SoCal country.
