| Am I missing something? We are new to uShip so maybe it is me...I'm searching through hundreds of boats and it would be helpful if there were two categories. I just noticed they have divided the moving into local and long distance maybe they could do this too? (Unless it is there and I'm blind and can't see it!!) Karen Ship New England LLC

I feel your pain and I gave this some thought and realized if things get any easier then the lowballing will really begin... The prices are already cut throat, how anyone makes any money on a boat at almost a dollar a mile when fuel is 3.50 a gallon and they want CDL and insurance too?
Come on man, I don't mind driving cheap but if I gotta do it for free then I make better money sleeping.

You know I suggested this boat with trailer filter months ago and thay said they're working on it but I think their time frame is like the government...

I have written some specs for the boat search filters, shared with UShip, but never heard back. In my opinion, there is a industry standard that is reflected on Ebay filters, BoatTraderOnline filters, etc. that mimicks buyer patterns and hauling characteristics. That is:- Majority of boats up to 24' LOA are purchase with a trailer, and can be hauled by the owner or an agent of the hauler, without CDL requirements (over 26K# GCVW) or overdimesional permits (over 8'6" wide or 13'6" tall) "CLASS A"
- Boats over 24' but less than 30' LOA are mixed - some with trailers, some without. Those under 8'6" wide and 13'6" tall on their own trailer can be transported by non-CDL drivers and need no permits, if GCVW of truck, trailer and boat <26K#. "CLASS B"
- Boats over 30' are always overdimensional, and rarely come with trailers. They must be moved by qualified transporters, with CDL and state DOT permits. "CLASS C"
- "CLASS D" would be boats that cannot be hauled on the road and require water, ocean, or superload overland permitting. Generallly, boats >50' LOA.
- More detail of simple, Year/Make/Model capture would save uneccesary and tedious Q&A. Capture of boat HULLID (like VIN) would make permit requests smoother.
- Haulers without DOT/MC numbers should only be able to bid Class A boats, at the shipper/haulers risk.
- Haulers with DOT/MC numbers and feedback <10 should be able to bid Class A, B boats only.
- Haulers with DOT/MC numbers, feedback >10 should be able to bid any Class boat.
Initiating these rules would greatly increase the credibility of UShip with marinas and boat dealers, who are leery of using the service because of the non-qualified, non-insured lowball bidders that muddy the waters for everyone.

| Just for sh____ and giggles I've been watching a listing for a 34' long (not counting trailer tongue), 7000 lb boat on a triple axle trailer going approx 1400 miles at a gross bid of $1500. Note: Subtract Uship's fees. One of the bidders appears to use a 3/4 ton pickup?  I hope that that particular bidder gets the job.
