Not all changes are good . International bought GM's medium truck division . Bad part about that is the most liked feature of the 4500/5500 was the Duramax engine . You know it won't take long for that engine to be replaced with the 6.4 Ford is buying from International . The trucks may still carry the Chevy name though . Some of you may remember when GMC sold their heavy truck division to White . Then the trucks were White GMC (and later Volvo White GMC)
A lot happening at Nissan with trucks but details are sketchy . Nissan is stopping production of minivans at it's MS plant and use that plant to produce a new line of Cummins powered commercial trucks they will only describe as "under 8 tons " . Then Nissan also announces a deal with Chrysler to produce a Nissan version of the Dodge Ram . (Like the arrangement Chrysler has with Mitsubishi making a version of the Dakota that is sold as th Raider )
I can't figure this Chrysler/Nissan deal , especially with Nissan coming up with a new Cummins powered truck . But the good news is Chrysler will use it's U.S. plants for production of the Nissan trucks . The latest Chrysler UAW contract stipulated the contract is only valid with current model lines . Would the new truck be considered a new model line not subject to the contract ?

Well , I was off a little on my info . The Nissan truck will be made in Mexico and Chrysler will move production of the Dodge Ram to the U.S. http://www.hispanicbusiness.com/news/2008/4/15/nissan_chrysler_produce_for_each_other.htm
I never liked the Nissan Titan but think it really strange for Nissan to replace a U.S. made Titan with a Mexican made Dodge . I'm sure Mopar fans are glad to see Ram production coming back to the U.S. so what would motivate anybody to buy the Nissan version ?

I believe the Nissan-badged Dodge pickups will sell for one reason and one reason only: greater perceived residual value. It's the same reason the Raider has better resale than the Dakota. The Corolla has a better resale than the Geo/Chevy Prizm. It's all mind games. If Mazda introduced a Ford Super Duty clone it would sell just for having a Mazda badge on it.

That and Nissan has a pretty decent sales base with the Titan and offering a heavier duty diesel model will bring those Titan owners in to trade up. And they will want to trade, for that 5.6 sucks a lot of fuel from what I hear. Doesn't matter to me, my wife wants a Titan BAD and they're getting cheaper used.

I haven't seen anything about Nissan using a diesel Ram version . I doubt they will since they will start making new diesel commercial trucks powered by Cummins at their plant in MS http://www.greencarcongress.com/2008/04/nissan-entering.html

What's with this Sterling Bullet?  Looks like a Dodge to me, with a higher price tag.

It is a med duty Dodge. Which is strange since Sterling is Freightliner which is mercedes which also owns Ford...
When I first heard of the Sterling I was excited thinking that I might be able to get a BIG Ford with a better engine/tranny.... Then I saw one and immediately saw Dodge, the interior is EXACTLY the same also, which is the biggest problem that I have with Dodge, so no Sterling for me!
