insurance confusion help!

I am trying to ship a 61" TV from Ohio to NJ. I am new to this actually I sold this TV as a local pick up only and my buyer came on and bought it now. He is in NJ. Now he says he will pay shipping. Cost is not a big factor to me what is important is insurance. I keep getting bids for around $275 that say insurance provided by shipper. But then it says additional insurance is payable $1.25 per pound for $90. Does this mean if I pay $90. and something happens I get $1.25 x 110 pound (weight of TV) = $125. This would not make sense. I am confused.
I keep asking the providers that make the bids to please make a bid that would cover $1000. in insurance. But I get no answers then the bid expires.
The bids say insurance provided by shipper. Should I just take one and assume that the coverage is adequate?

I have received many questions but no bids. I am trying to start a new trailer sales business in Alaska and have gotten quotes like 10,000 from other major companies per trailer but that is totally outragious I need to find the lowest price so I can keep my cost low for the coustomer thats why I wanted to start the business in the first place. What can I do to get some resonable bids? Any type of input would be greatly appreciated. I know the gas prices are through the roof right now but come on! Please help.

So, I am new to the site. Basically, I am a recent college graduate, with a clean driving record, looking to take advantage of delivering a car, for some money....the advantage being I get to see parts of the country I have never been...so... Does it sound logical to make this deal....For example: Car needs to be shipped from Pennsylvania to California. I offer as my bid....they pay the gas and however much it costs for anAmtrak trainticket back,(around $220) and a little extra on top. I used the AAA online gas calculator. Gas is around $250 from coast to coast, for non-trucks. So total, I am asking only $450 with a little extra, which seems to be alot lower than what everyone else is bidding. What does everyone think about my situation?? Also, when do people respond to my bids? Can the seller contact me, or do they receive my contact info?? Also, a very important question.....Do you get paid before the trip/after/etc? Thanks [email removed]

Hello,

I'm a collector of spacecraft artifacts from the Mercury, Gemini & Apollo space programs.

I have a steel model of a Gemini spacecraft that needs to get shipped from the San Francisco area to Boston, Mass and I haven't gotten any responses.

This model weighs about 2000lbs, it's 9' long x 8' in diameter and it can be put up on it's bottom. I'd greatly appreciate any help in getting this shipped.

Any idea how I can go about trying to contact a cross country shipper ?

Why is my shipment not coming up when I pull up a route that it is clearly on? If I go to where the service providers go to search for a shipment and I put in the zip codes for the destinatiion route, my shipment doesn't come up. Anyone know why?

After successfully posting the listing, there is an option to request bids. Do I need to click on this? Will the transporters not see my listing if I don't request bids? Isn't that the whole point in listing an item?

Getting a shipper to respond to questions from haulers

Why does shippers post a shipment and then never answer questions from the haulers bidding on their shipment. Timing is everything when trying to bid on a shipment. Bidders need info from the shippers to see if this haul is for them or if they should bid on another one. I have noticed on some shipments that the shipper answers maybe one time and then nothing on several questions. If they have found someone to haul for them it would be nice to let others know so they can bid on other shipments don't you think?

How do you cancel a shipment to receive your deposit back? Uship seems to have this well hidden.

I had accepted a bid ,paid the deposit,had a relative wait all afternoon for the pickup and no called ,I emailed and received an email 2 days later stating the weather was the problem,(understandable) but they stated they would contact me when they were ready to pickup, I received another email stating they now had equipment failure and may have to go back empty, I sent an email asking when they may be back in the area and have not received a response (4 days have gone by). So I want to cancel this shipment with this company but I have searched everywhere on Uship .

Any Help will be appreciated.

Service provider storage fees? $900

I've sent a complaint to member support about this, but I wanted to get some feedback. I bought a truck with a bad tranny on ebay for $760. My first UShip service provider took my deposit but didn't do the job.

Now, I've used Freedom Transport out of Wichita KS, which is insisting on $20 a day in storage fees for about 40 days when I was incarcerated on charges that have been dropped. I couldn't contact them during this time. So a $250 job is now an $900 job -- more than I paid for the truck. Thank goodness I have the title.

What should I do? He wants $800 total. Is this the kind of people UShip uses? Where can I get a copy of the user agreement? What does it say about storage fees?

We own an automotive business in WV. We are looking to find a company that will transport up to 4 vehicles, cars and trucks, from the california or florida auction areas to huntington, west virginia. We can't send out a shipping quote request because we haven't purchased any vehicles yet and the quote request only allows for one specific vehicle. We buy wrecks to rebuild or sale as is. Please let me know if there are any companies out there interested in this type of transport. There would always be more than one car or truck to be hauled. We are trying to align ourselves with a company and get a quote before we purchase the vehicles. It helps in knowing before you bid on them.

Hi~ i often times buy some stuff from eBay, Amazon.com, etc. etc...To save the oversea shipping costs, could i use uShip in the USA to ship my bidding stuff (eg., used books, gadgets, etc) on eBay and the stuff purchased from other websites to my country(Taiwan)?....I mean, i oftentimes buy a couple of items from some websites and it's costly if they're shipped individually from the USA to Taiwan...Could uShip then combine them in one package and send it to me?...

I am a newbie here at Uship. I have a new client who is elderly and is in need of me to pick up her large number of books and tapes and then ship them to me so I can sell them for her on eBay.

How do I go about estimating the weight of the books or each book so that I can get an estimate of the cost to ship all of this to me.

Also are there any reliable packing services available with UShip so that she will not have to pack them? Or should I look for that service elsewhere?

eBay seller Shipping a desk for the first time

I just sold a desk for the first time. I've never shipped furniture before. I could not provide her a quote during the auction because she won it at the last minute. I had trouble locating someone who would ship it for under $200 from 33629 to 66442. It is a small desk, probably needs to be crated unsure. I just want to know what the best way to get bids other than listing. I randomly chose shipping providers to give me bids but they mostly ship cars/boats/pets, etc. in their descriptions so finding that small time shipper with the right price is just slow.

Any advice would be helpful.

Although I'm quite new to the Uship site, being a "service provider", I have notice something that really irks me and that is the time many "shippers" take in responding to either questions or bids. Those requesting shipping should realize that as Freight Companys, etc, we make our living, pay our bills and send our kids off to college on what we earn moving stuff for other people. When it comes to our trucks one phrase sums it up..."if our wheels ain't turnin', we ain't earnin'". Might I, as a noobie here, suggest that when you list something needing shipped, respond in a TIMELY manner, and be aware that if you are requesting a bid, Please, be READY TO SHIP IT! I for one can't afford to "lock up" my truck for 3 or 4 days waiting for someone to be ready. A bid is a contract, and, at least to me, should not to be taken lightly. One more thing, and I'll stop venting, I've seen requests after requests wanting something shipped halfway (or further) across the country for pay that wouldn't cover near the fuel costs alone. In summary, please, be considerate of us shipping companies.

Hello, new to the uship site but find it very interesting, What is the take on requiring insurance from the trucking company / carrier ?

All so what is the process for posting a item if your not the person paying at the end of the line, many buyers wont waste the time to get a price but sellers would to complete there sale but if it goes south after it leaves the hands of the seller then so does the feedback with our control, so whats everyones take on this?

ebay auctions "I have not yet won"

Navigating the search is cumbersome, slow and frustrating enough.

Ebayers who have not won an item yet solicit bids on shipping clog the system with their ads and only add to the frustration and inefficiency.

Can you please put these "maybes" and "if I'm lucky" shippers in another section of their own so they don't take time and efficiency away from those who actually have freight to offer?

It takes too long and too many steps to get back to a listing once you click on it as it is. Having to sift through these "offers" makes your site almost too tedious.

Thanks for letting me voice my frustration.

I can't seem to find detailed info on the uShip insurance coverage. The bid on my item shows it's available, but I need to verify what is and isn't covered to ship my motorcycle.

The lack of info on this website is a GIANT RED FLAG, for me, though they do have good standing with b.b.b.

Does anyone have any experience filing a claim? I won't ship unless I can verfiy the coverages. I've been screwed over by too many people in the past to ever trust anyone!

As you can see, I am new to this site and thought it would be a great place to start, as far as looking for people with experience to help move my auctions!

We have an entire gym full of equipment, and will be warehousing it this week. Randomly, we will be posting sales on eBay, but we need an affordable means of getting it to the person who wins. The stipulation is that we will load the equipment ourselves and the receiver must unload - we just need a driver & truck!

I want to include shipping in the price, and I realize it is going to vary (depending on where the item ends up) but if it goes all the way across the US, I don't want to pay an arm and a leg, either.

I am located in Baltimore, so any help would be appreciated - I really don't know where else to begin.

I sold an exercise bike on Ebay. I got a quote from another site that said I could ship it for $100. Of course, now that it's sold, they want $138.50, and the buyer refuses to pay more (can't blame him, I advertised $100 shipping). I am having a BEAR of a time finding someone to ship this thing! I was told by other ebayers that ship bikes that it can be taken apart and boxed, and shipped through regular mail, but it's an older bike and you can't really disassemble it that easily. Not to mention the hassle the guy will face putting it back together!

Can anyone give me any advice? I got one bid and declined it due to zero feedback, even then he wanted $165, I think. Another was closer to my price range, but he only had a one-day window and the buyer didn't reply to my email about delivery times at his house until a week later.

I am getting fed up and am about ready to give the guy his money back, and get negative feedback on ebay for it (he's not very nice so far).

Any advice???
