I use to be an accountant and you tell me, farther distance, longer commute, more items and you charge me more than that? Please. Learn how to run your business. FLEXIBLE PICK UP SCHEDULE

Trying to be brief....

I have 4-500 # of household goods (mostly personal stuff--not of any great value 'cept to me). I have them boxed or in plastic totes. I have a pallet. I need them moved from New England to NC.

They will be ready Aug 15 but I do not need them immediately, so my ship date is flexible. How do I list it to get as many bids and possibilities available?

Also, What is the best way to prepare it for shipping to get the best rate and make it easiest for the trucker??? i.e., wrapped? palletized, single units? What if I do not have a loading dock or forklift, etc? (residential pick up)

Surely there must be people/providers traveling back from a New england summer to Florida, etc, right????

Need a Way to Communicate with Shipper

I need a way to continue speaking with a shipper that has already shipped for me. She has responded twice to one message that I left feedback on, and she has lyed in both of her feedbacks many times! This is unfair to me since she can post TWO 500 words or less messages on her page about me, but I can only post one. There are going to be lawyers involved because not only did she kill my horse, she's lying about it and now calling me crazy! I need a way to communicate with her. Thank you.

If there is anyone out there who has had problems with J and G Transport? would you contact me at my email address [email removed] yes I know this against Uship policies but lets band together and get this guy before he surfaces again and does this to somebody else.

The reason I'm doing this is Uship sent Email to J and G Transport and have not received back any answer, when I first lodged a complaint, I received no answer back from Uship, until I cancelled our shippment, now it's to late this guy has skipped town with our money and we can't find him. To start legal action.

Additional Shipping Fees

I have accepted a bid from a broker to transport my car. They now say that they can't get to it because the truck is too big and it will be an additional amount for a flat bed to get it first. Isn't this against the rules of the User Agreement?

Starting today, Service Provider profiles are taking on an exciting new look. Now, in addition to the positive, neutral, and negative ratings you are used to seeing, service providers will have the opportunity to differentiate themselves by their customer service and quality of work with the newly launched Detailed Service Provider Ratings.

Here are some of the important details:

You will be rated in four categories: Communication; Care of Goods; Punctuality/Timeliness; and Service as Described - please see below for a detailed description of each category.
Ratings in each category will be based on a 5-star rating system that each shipper will be asked to submit when leaving feedback.
Detailed Service Provider Ratings will not appear in your profile until you have a minimum of 10 ratings submitted by shippers.
Ratings are based on the average of your ratings over the past twelve months.
In addition to the individual category ratings, each profile will have an overall star rating which will be an aggregate average of all your ratings over the past twleve months.

This is an exciting improvement to the way you build your reputation and market your business on uShip. Now you will be able to show off your strengths as a provider in more detail, and you will know exactly which areas your shippers think you need to improve upon.

Detailed Service Provider Ratings categories:

Communication
Did you keep in touch? Was the shipper able to reach you as needed?

I have agreed with a shipper to transport my 40ft motorboat. I now wonder if it´s possible to hire a "third partie" that can check the agreement and tell if something is wrong or missing, before I proceed. Since I´m from Europe, I guess it´s easy for me to "miss" some demands when it comes to ensurances, registration# etc.. I just want the shipping to work out without any surprises or problems. Therefore I guess the best for me is to "buy" the service of making a complete/proper agreement with the shipper, when possible...

I have read the "to do list" here on Uship, still I would feel better if someone experienced could help me out..

Hi, just want some information on Dot and MC numbers. I am looking for a company that lists only an MC number, but I can't find information on the Safer database, it says that the record is not found. Should I be looking somewhere else to check out a company? They list as being freight forwarder, but having 25 trucks and 35 drivers, I would have thought they would have had a DOT number as well, or am I just on the wrong track

I have a older sport bike up for bid to move from Indiana to Texas and one of the bids lowballed the others by over $100. Bid made by a member with (0) feedback, I emailed him asking for more information, he responded by stating he is the owner of an established auto shop in a bustling town located 30 min away from the city. Just so happens he was already going to Indiana in order to pick up an engine and transmission, adding the bike to his trailer will offset his fuel expense.

Does anyone see something wrong with a shop owner driving over 1200 miles over at least three days to pick up an engine and tranny? I'ld like to investigate this offer more because money is at a premium right now but no information is available until I accept and make the deposit.

If I make the deposit and change my mind due to valid concerns do I lose the money? Would anyone here consider such an arraingement?

Hey all,
I applied for and received my DOT and MC numbers, and filed my BOC-3 and UCR through another company, and I know there's a bunch more forms I have to fill out and send in today, but I have a feeling there's something I'm missing.

Do I have to register with SaferWeb, or am I automatically entered into it? Are there any other things I need, like a CDL? We only have 1 truck and 2 drivers, both over 21, and we drive a pickup pulling a trailer. I've read through the CDL pamphlet for my state but it's kind of shady and un-imformative.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

With all the problems SHIPPERS are having and not knowing what to ask or look for when shipping there cars I thought I would post what I found from a NATIONAL TRANSPORT COMPANY, it helps shippers understand what is required of both THEM & a TSP when it comes time to ship there Car or even Motorcycle,

Consumer F.A.Q's about Auto Transport:

(1) Is the consumer's auto insurance primary or secondary ?

ANSWER: There is no such thing as secondary and primary. Insurance works as such: Most carriers hold 1,000,000.00 combined single limit & 250,000.00 thousand dollars per incident. This insurance covers damage done to your vehicle in transit. There is no other insurance. The auto transport carrier is the main and only coverage. (Exception: Automobile personal contents are not covered by any carrier insurance and in most cases if lost, stolen or otherwise will not be covered.)

(2) Should a consumer pay more money for a lower insurance deductible ?

ANSWER: Absolutely not ! - Most carriers have deductibles between $200.00 and 2000.00. Regardless of damage done to a vehicle you should never have to pay a deductible either way. If a carrier requests additional fee for deductible they are only attempting to get a higher price.

(3) Can a consumer ship personal items or household goods in a vehicle ?

ANSWER: This is a judgment call. However most carriers can and will charge an additional fee for the extra weight. Not to mention the insurance ramifications. (Refer to question #1)

(4) How long should an auto transport take ?

ANSWER: Shipping time all depends on the transporter - listed below are some very basic ideas to help you along the way. Make sure however you contact your us for their actual scheduled times.

East Coast to West Coast - approx. 7 to 14 days

Midwest to East Coast - approx. 5 to 8 days

South to the North - approx. 5 to 8 days

All shipping times are estimated do not base your transport on these examples without first contacting us for assistance.

(5) Why does a truck(S.U.V) shipment cost more than a regular sedan ?

ANSWER: Shipments are based on weight that a truck can legally carry. This is why there may be a small price difference.

(6) What type of paperwork do I need to ship my vehicle ? (Insurance, title, registration, etc.)

ANSWER: Unless your vehicle is leaving the country all that is required for your shipment is a signature and walk around with the driver at pick up. This walk around will allow you and the driver to verify if any damage exists at pick up.

(7) How is a transport supposed to work ?

ANSWER: Auto transport is very simple. You should receive a call from the carrier anywhere from 10 to 24 hours in advance of your pick up date. The driver will arrive, review the vehicle and load it on the truck. The reverse happens at the delivery point. The driver calls in advance, you'll walk around the vehicle for damage and take delivery.

(8) What should a consumer do if their vehicle arrives with damage ?

ANSWER: First thing you should do is make sure the driver understands that the damage is new and was not on the original bill of lading. The damage should clearly be marked and noted, then signed for by the driver. Upon completion of delivery, a call should placed to your carrier or broker to inform them of the damage. In most cases the carrier will ask for an estimate and send you payment in a couple weeks. If the carrier is not responsive and unwilling to work with you to resolve the issue, make sure you contact their insurance company and make a claim. Be sure however you have all the documentation to back up your claim. Ffalse claims can result in legal action by the carrier or agent.

Finding a reputable trucking company

I have had 3 shippers I hauled for that were very pleased with the delivery, even got tipped and was told they would leave good feed back......but no feed back. Seems like we should get credit for a non negative delivery. I should have 11 instead of 8 , I guess they get busy and forget. Anyhow , it would be nice to get credt for delivery's you know were good.

As I read through various profiles, I noticed that numerous service providers have a statement telling you that they'll "treat your boat, car, bike, etc. like it was their own". What does that mean? Are you going to take my boat and go fishing or skiing? Are you going to take my car to the race track? Are you going to ride my bike around the countryside? And how do I know how you treat your own? Pretty meaningless if you ask me!

OK, I amit I am new. That is why I would like the flexibility to quickly change my profile. But I can't because someone complained (I don't even know why) and until Uship reviews it I am unable to do my job,the way I would like. I would think the practive of frivilous complaining should be in itself not allowed. Also, what about innocent until proven guilty?

Maybe, there is something I am missing - but I should at leat be notified what the complaint is. I really want to do this right.

Besides offering hauling services, I have a horse farm. Recently someone not too far from me listed a hauling request. It appeared that she had several people who were willing to do the job although only one bid. Her job conflicts with another one I have so I cannot bid. However, in marketing my horse farm, and making horse sale connections, how can I let her know who I am? Can I give her identifying information once she no longer has an active listing? The user agreement makes this hard to understand as they are sure everyone is just trying to circumvent their fees. People might have other reasons for wanting to learn identities. How do we do this without violating Uship?

Selecting a shipping company

Im new to uShip and I have a few questions. I am getting a car shipped soon and am slightly worried about selecting a company. What steps need to be taken for someone to list themselves as a registered company. (basicly what stops someone from signing up with uShip, picking up my car, and just driving away with it because he/she made up false info.) I have a bidder on the car, and he has 0 feedback and has only been registered from 5-29-07, and under his uShip profile he only has listed number of trucks:1 number of drivers:1, just a guy with a car trailer. This makes me somewhat uncomfortable since I am new to uShip and shipping cars in general. Is there any security?
