Shipper needs to be charged a fee

If the SHIPPER is charged a fee to list a shipment, ETC $10.00, This would eliminate all the JUNK postings. I'm new to this site, but you see the same listings on other sites and they are all still open. How many bids under horses say "Accepted". Not many. I'm tired of spending my time bidding with little or no response. Thanks for your time.

Updated Find Shipments Console

We would like to invite you to beta test of our improved Find Shipments tool. Since we moved to the new Find Shipments tool there has been a vocal response, telling us what we can do better, what is not working, and what has been an improvement. And although several posts called for us to revert to the old system, bidding numbers and efficiency has improved significantly since the switch.

In order to continue the improvements we have seen, we have again redesigned the tool - mostly small tweaks that were recommended by our Service Provider community to make finding and bidding on shipments easier. Selecting a category with a single click, faster download times, and adding pictures to the list view are just a few of the enhancements you will notice. We plan on adding even more robust functionality through additional filters and more mapping options in the near future. For now we would appreciate your feedback on the tool. Your comments and experience with the site is our top priority. As always we hope that our efforts are helping you grow your business everyday!

I am more interested in knowing when the bidding expires for a shipment on the watch list that seeing the listing date. Would it be possible to change this or give the option to allow the provider to select which dates he is interested in seeing. Regards...

Am I missing something? We are new to uShip so maybe it is me...I'm searching through hundreds of boats and it would be helpful if there were two categories. I just noticed they have divided the moving into local and long distance maybe they could do this too? (Unless it is there and I'm blind and can't see it!!)

For a long time, I have day-dreamed about a concept like uShip. Think of the benefits of "shared-shipping." It's environmentally friendly, it conserves oil and other precious resources, can enhance income for travelers, and save shippers money. The technology needs to be enhanced to be the solution I have dreamed of . . . but this is an excellent start. As usual, government regulations are the enemy of efficiency -- but I suppose that there will be a lot of flying below the radar here.

Some suggestions to the uShip folks: You will need to expand your search capabilities, and then do a great job of teaching us how to use the more powerful tools. When selecting "from" or "to" states, how about allowing selection of multiple states? What about pre-defined groups of states -- e.g. New England, Gulf States, West of Mississippi, etc? How about your computer calculating the mileage for the trip and listing that is a sortable column? Then, you could take target price divided by miles and post a $ per mile column. Perhaps you could create a discussion forum for technology enhancements.

This is such a neat idea . . . how can we get the idea out to the world? There should be a multitude of listings here -- like eBay.

Shipments aren't showing up in "Find Shipments"

I checked all my filters and for some reason right now no postings are showing up in "find shipments" other than livestock and animals. I have reset all the filters and made sure everything is checked and I know there are a lot more shipments....everything says 0 next to it's description!!! I have active bids out there too.....any idea what is going on....I even tried to log off and then log back in and that doesn't fix it.....it's like there are no shipments out there???? HELP PLEASE!!

Boat listings - additional search criteria needed

Volume of boat listings is up - thats good.

Ability to sort through that volume is the same - thats bad.

Pro haulers that run nationwide aren't as concerned with the location and destination of boats as they are with the 1) Type (sailboat, powerboat, canoe) and 2) length of the boat.

Simply being able to pull up all boats 24'-34' separate from runabouts (14' - 24') would make a HUGE difference.

Listing searches by states worked when volume was low. Now its become cumbersome, looking past the same listings for days and days, trying to find the ones that are NEW and match your criteria for hauling, with location as a secondary concern...

I was curious if there were any plans to include a "completed shipments" function in the search/find process. It would be helpful especially for those who are trying to set a target bid and could use the information from similar shipments to do so. I use this feature all the time when both buying and selling on eBay, and it's quite helpful.

I'm a new user and it appears that there is no way to 'watch a shipment' in the way one can 'watch an auction' in ebay. Unless you 'ask a question' or actually make a bid, it seems that there is no way of tagging shipments that catch your eye and would like to review later or keep an eye on bidding. I think this is a basic necessity so that providers can quickly keep an eye on all developments on shipments they retain an interest in. As things stand, it's very tedious to have to go back and do the 'state to state'/along a route/ zip to zip searches and be forced to plough through all of the other shipment listings that fall within the same search parameters before re-finding the one you want to follow. Please advise if I have missed this functionality if it is already in place...............if not, hopefully the uship people can quickly implement this feature. thanks alastair

It would be nice if there was a way to have just items that are actual freight and not the everyday household goods that everyone so needs hauled cheap. If people new that if you put items on pallets or made it fork lift loadable it makes it more accessable for add ons to full loads, which in turn is where a better rate comes.

Listing Page & Find Shipment Tool

For starters I think the recent changes to the Find Shipment tool were excellent. I was wondering if uShip would consider an addition to the shipper listing page and "Find Shipment" filters. And wanted to see if other service providers felt the addition would be worth having or not.

Situation/Problem:

Some listings I think, "Well maybe I could do this one, if I get that other job", but I don't want to mark it as a "watched shipment" and overload or clutter that feature on the "My uShip" page. So it's this type of job, as well as other scenarios, that I'd like to still having sitting in my "find shipments" showing as viewed searches but not marked as watched.

But, because I forget which job names go with which listings, I often find myself filing through shipments that I've previously viewed that I know I have no interest in and that I will never bid on. I end up sitting there waiting for it to pull up, only to find out, "Oh not this one again", close the window and then move on. Possibly because its too large a load, an unreasonable target, it's been abandoned by shipper, etc. And it's these that I would prefer don't come up again in any of my future searches. Or that I at least would like the option to not have to see particular listings again.

Possible Solution:

On the shipper listing page, up by where it's titled

Create another button that says something to the effect [do not display again] [hide from future searches] [remove from find shipments] [not compatible] [remove from all searches] [delete listing] [delete this shipment] [hide this shipment] [unwanted shipment]

And then on the find shipments page where it has the filters options:

Viewed(72)

Watched(5)

Bid(6)

No Activity(214)

"New Filter Name" (53) <--------- "Deleted Shipments" "Hidden Shimpents"

You can add the new filter that will keep all of the unwanted or uncompatible jobs from showing up repeatedly. It could probably default to these jobs showing up to begin with and then all we'd have to do is go to the filter on the side, and uncheck this new option. So the listings would never be completely deleted, would always be retrievable, and just not cluttering our searches.

P.S. It would also be nice if we had a similar ability as eBay users on the "My uShip" page to rearrange the listing order of the headings or categories. The main reason is that I'd like "My Active Bids" to show up directly under "My Recent Matches"

P.S. OK, sorry, one more thought. When doing searches "Along a Route"(I use this quite a bit), it would be helpful if you could put in more than the two zipcodes. For example if you wanted to route yourself through Kentucky instead of the Carolinas on your way from New York to Florida. So 3 zipcodes would be nice, and hey, why not even 4? MORE is almost always better, right?

I tried to use boston zip and sacremento destination. Things worked fine, but I tried to limit the shipments to not going out of the way more than 25 miles and I got shipments up in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Basically Boston to Sacremento follows Rt 90 to Cleveland and then jumps on Rt 80 the rest of the way. Wisconsin is probably at least 50 miles from Chicago.

Not being able to sort by trailer or drive-away needs to be changed back also MPG Estimate Needs to be put Back- How can we possibly make an informed bid if we dont have an MPG Estimate. And If a listing has a book it now and but will only accept a enclosed trailer this can lead to many misunderstandings.

New Maps under find shipment

I am unable to use old search after I used a new one. I had eerything worked out, it was plain and simple to use. New search is very anoying, would not save my settings. Every time I need to hit back button I need to start search again from the bigining. There is also tomuch info for the items in the list making it hard to distinguish one item from the next one. Pictures are very small and only make things worst. Picture icon was just fine, I was able to look it up if I was interested and the search results were easy to navigate.

How can I go back to prewious version?

how do i get ahold of a service provider after the bid expired? After the bid expires uship won't let you contact the service provider. THis is a problem. . that needs to be fixed! the only way is to go through the thousands of providers, which isn't convinient.
