When we were listing the items we wanted moved I remember seeing something about potentially qualifying for a $100 rebate if this was your first time using uShip. Now I can't seem to find anything about it. Does anyone know if this promotion is still going or how to claim the rebate? Thank you.

I'm looking for advice on how to ship a dance floor from NC to the Bay Area in CA and having difficulty knowing how to list the item or request it packed. I would like to list, but a bit new to the process

I am considering purchasing a stack of 38 pieces of 3'x3' Sico dance floor (1650lbs) on a pallet:

...as well as the smaller trim pieces that go along.

Should I ask for the trim pieces to be palletized on the same pallet or in a separate box?
Is a portable dance floor Class 50 material? General freight? Furniture?

I'm new to uship, and I have a question... If you watch a shipment, and bid, and the time is ready to expire, and right before it goes off, the shipper extends the time again, Is this acceptable? I thought this worked like ebay, and if you were the lowest bid you won the job of hauling their product, but if they can keep extending the bid time, on you, is there even any use of bidding?? Please tell me how this works.

I went to the FMCSA site and it says:

YES under PROPERTY, no under everything else
Then 750K under BIPD (which doesnt apply to me I assume)
Then YES under CARGO

Does this mean my car is insured for some amount but I can't find out how much?

I want buy an enclosed cargo trailer 7 x 14 with a rear ramp door. I know that the trailer manufactures are concentrated in Elkhart, IN. as well as Georgia. I don't care where I buy it from I just want a high quality trailer at a decent price shipped into the Bismark, ND area. The trailer would be empty for the trip so I the hauler provider can load the trailer with bikes or something to offset some costs that would be fine.

How do I go about soliciting bids for this?

Hi. I have accepted a bid from a shipper who is now asking for 1/2 in payment up front via Moneygram, which it seems is not a recommended practice? Also, there is a deposit on u-ship that is part of the bid. Is that deposit paid directly to the shipper and should it be deducted from the total amount due to the shipper?

Changed shipping load can no longer accept shipping offer

I posted a move and received a bid to move my items. I removed some items from my load to make the post more accurate. The shipper had asked me exactly what I needed to ship and I corrected the form. I did not realize that in doing so I would be totally blocked from accepting his bid. This site provides zero information on how to contact the shipper to let him know I am accepting his shipping bid. There also seems to be zero way to contact anyone at the site to put my acceptance through.

Uship Charge: How much should I pay my moving company?

Hi,

I shipped certain items from AZ to NY. I am really happy that I found uship. My shipper was really nice and everything went smoothly.

However, when I accepted his bid, uship charged me certain amount. However, we are not agreeing over whether that amount needs to be deducted from what I paid him or not.

i.e. payment to him = bid amount - amount that uship charged me.

Am I right?

Does shipper gets anything from what uship chared me.

As the subject header reads, I've made a listing this morning and noticed that there's a button to "request bids." Having never used Uship before, do you need to request bids or do companies contact you?

Also, if you do need to request bids, is there a simple "one-to-many" way to send a request? From what I can see, its a 2-step process for each provider (and there's quite a few).

First-time shipper, need help/info on custom fees + insurance

Hi there:

I need to ship 11 boxes full of personal USED belongings, mostly books. Non of the items I'm shipping are new, they are all used. The boxes have been sealed and packaged by me. However, they are not on a crate.

I have recieved several bids for my shipment, however, being my first time I am still unclear as to how custom and taxes work and insurance. I will be shipping from Cincinnati to Montreal in Canada so obviouslly, the shipment will have to cross the border into Canada. Since I am the shipper, I am responsible for all custom and taxes fees. However, I am an unsure as to what this all means.

My shipment weights approximately 475 lbs. and it's all personal goods. The declared value is in the thousands (over $1,500) because of all the books I need to ship.

Can anyone help me on how to calculate or approximate the custom fees or taxes I would have to pay?
What about insurance?
When are custom fees enforced?
How much tax do I have to pay?
Is there a way to avoid this?
Can I have anything taken away from me by the US or Canadian customs? (I don't want to lose anything!)

I am scared that my actual payment would double or triple because of this. I have bids in the 500's but I do not want to pay thousands of dollars to have such a small move shipped.

Extra charge asserted to pack kitchenware

My mover arrived this morning to move my 1BR apartment 5 states away. They informed me the uship bid they received did not specify that they were to pack my kitchenware (normal plates, glassware, pots, pans for a 1 person 1 bedroom apartment) and that they needed to charge me another $500 to pack it. The uship system for registering a move does not have a special box to click indicating that kitchenware is to be packed, and it seemed obvious to me, but not to my mover, that the default expectation is that a normal amount of kitchenware will be packed and shipped in this sort of comprehensive move. This seems like a major gap in the uship system. Whose position is out of line here?

Moving out of state storage contents to my house - need info

"I'm trying to ship to Lausanne Switzerland. Postal code 1001. The site automatically changes the delivery address to "Lausanne, Massachusetts". I can't figure out how to work around it."

Has the function been removed whereby shippers can provide a complete listing of what is to be shipped from theie "3 bedroom hose", for example? Seems we are getting mostly just "3 bedroom house" the info provided, and when I went looking for that function, I could not find it either. I wanted to make a dummy listing so that I could tell a shipper where to find the option for a full list, but I could not find it. Could someone at uship respond, and tell me how to get to that function? It is much more helpful than just being told "I have a 3 bedroom house". Thanks, looking forward to answers.

Hi all,
I'm brand new to uShip, and stumbled across a question that some of you veterans may have thoughts about.

I am moving across country and only have a few things - about 1/2 truck load (truck being by Dodge Dakota). Therefore, I am looking to either fill the rest of my bed and/or tow something. I don't have my own trailer, so I would be either towing an empty or (more likely) loaded one for someone else.

I was thinking about insurance issues and the like, and wondering whether or not I would have to get additional insurance to cover an accident with the trailer, or would the owner's insurance suffice...?...?...

Deposit - Who gets the deposit to book shipment?

After my shipper contacted me, he wanted some cash upfront when he is picking up my shipment. I said I already paid $96 deposit to book you, he said uship gets all of it. I noticed on the breakdown that it stated the shipping provider received $80. So does this mean the shipper got $80 of my $96 booking charge? or does uship get the whole $96

cumbersome U-ship policies

I accepted a bid to move my Blue Bird Flatnose bus from Junction City OH. to Lancaster Oh. Liked the shippper very much, finally got contact info. to speak to shipper directly only after accepting bid. In conversation with the shipper, I found he was in Florida on Vacation, and Would not be able to transport my Bus until April 7...My listing suggests the "move" must be between March 25th and April 4...Why? I purchased this bus on Ebay, and have had an acrimonious relationship with this Seller. He has given me a deadline to move the Bus, that being April 3 2009. I tried to arrange with the Seller a pick up date of April 7 to accommodate Don, the shipper, but my Seller will not Budge. As soon as I realized this I contacted both Don, as well as U-ship, that there may be a problem. Today, with no contact from the Shipper, u-ship, or a change of Heart from the Seller of the bus. I was forced to cancel my Bid, with the purpose of getting back to the three others who had bid, who might be able to perform in the allowed time frame. Now the problem is, Shipper has 72 hours, to respond to my cancellation, which now takes me to Monday, and who knows what from then. When time is of the essence, and when all reasoning is clear, any delays could cause potential damages, loss of vehicle, etc. There should be a means by which processes can be expedited. I find in an effort for U-ship to protect it's fees, they're very restrictive in terms of what you can and can't do prior to accepting a bid. I would love to have direct communication with the "carriers" who contacted me in the bidding process, solely to facilitate my intented aim. To remove my Bus from Seller's dirt in a timely fashion per his demand. Now I am left looking for alternative methods in a decidedly hurried fashion, when I thought I had the thing all locked up..........ideas? suggestions? Love to hear them. mokibra

Would someone at U Ship please explain why they do not recommend a Money Gram. I have sold and bought on E Bay for many years and NEVER had any problems. I do not like checks and have had past trouble with Pay Pal. What is my alternative.

Hi. I am new to Uship and I have a question on cash payments. A shipper with very good feedback and communication made a competitive bid on my shipment. However, he only accepts cash payments. Is this "legal" and how would it work? I told him I wanted to run the payment through Uship he said no, cash only. They will charge at least a booking fee or deposit when I match right? He says the booking fee doesn't go to him. The booking fee doesn't but I would hope any deposit I would have to give would. Is this risky or business as usual? Thanks so much!

i'm really confused. so who do I pay? do I pay uship or pay the people that ship my product? also if the bid is for say $300 is it going to be $300 or are they(tsp) going to change the price upon arrival? also do you pay before or after you receive your items?
