I indicated that I had no problem going through a broker as long as I felt comfortable with the carrier they chose.

The broker (autocarrides - Auto Mated Tranporters) automatically declined their bid and stated, "If our choice isnt good enough with our track record You need to find someone else.Thank you".

Is it unacceptable to ask a broker to provide these numbers? I feel I ought to have a right to know who they're shipping through especially if I don't have a problem paying extra to go through a broker. This was i January this year. I was recommended by a friend of mine to use World Wide Boat Transport for the shipment. I got in touch with them and i payd in advance. $ 5.050 dollars was the amount for shipment of this boat from Port Baltimore to Gothenburg, SWEDEN.

Somewhere along the way, it was brought to my attention that the Swedish Customs Service was going to enforce the joint European Maritime Organizations law that says that any boat that is not CE-certified will NOT get Customs clearence. This law is from 1998 but it has never been enforced because of the low resources of the Swedish Customs Service. If this was to happen, the only thing to do was to send the boat back to the States and that would have another $ 5.050 dollars.

I desided to cancel this shipping due to the risk that the boat would have been stopped. And so I did. In February.

According to the contract it was allowed to cancel shipping without any sort of fee, as long as the cancellation was being done more than seven days before the beginning of the shipping. If I had canceled later than seven days before the shipping I would have been forced to pay a fee of 10% of the total amount, up to $ 5.000 dollars, thus $ 500 dollars in this case.

To make a long, long story much shorter, it has now been about six months since I canceled the shipping, and I still haven´t got any money back. I have called about fifty times, and a few times, about five times I think, I got to talk to Don. Only ONE time I got to talk to Rob, who according to Don, is in charge of this matter. Everytime they have told me that the money is on the way, but no money has arrived....

I don´t really know how to handle this. This is an American company and I am a Swedish private citizen. The only kind of preassure I can make is by going online with this matter. It seems that there is no way to get any respons from WWBT by telephone or email and so I hope there will be some kind of respons in here, from WWBT or "fram" that is the username for WWBT here on U-Ship.

I´m sorry for bringing it up like this and I also hope that all this is just one big misunderstading and that the money will be on the way shortly.

Lookig forward to hearing from the member "fram" or WWBT.

I hope that my English is understandable, please keep in mind that I´m from Sweden.

Kind Regards
John Enroth
Cell: +46 70 303 31 10
Email: john@enroth.se

PS. I can´t find any way to send PM to other members on this forum, how do I do that? Ideally looking for good loading situation as possible site forktruck. This arrangement may include additional uShip bid involved for further shipment. Do any providers work with this type transfer arrangement? Once I can note this is possible then I can correctly post my ad for bid on uShip. I am thinking, it might be uShipped to the authorized staging area. Then I need make needed arrangements for storage as monthly payments to staging area company. I live on a farm in Nebraska, and every once in awhile we haul small farm equipment around long distances. I am hoping to be able to pick up loads to help cover high fuel costs. I am a little confused about how much I am able to haul and still be legal. I have a 2003 Ford F-350 dually. My GVWR is 11,500 pounds. My dually full of fuel weighs somewhere around 8,500 pounds. My goal is to have about 1,000 pounds in the bed of my pickup, and then borrow my neighbor's car trailer and pick up a job hauling a vehicle to help cover my fuel cost. How heavy of a car can I pull? Do I go by my truck's GVWR or the trailer's or both? The trailer is 20 feet long with two 3,500 pound axels (with brakes). The GVWR for the trailer is 7,000 pounds. Somebody told me that my truck, trailer, and all cargo cannot be over 11,500 pounds. If that's so, then what is the 7,000 pound GVWR on the trailer mean?

20ft container or LTL?

Hey guys, I'm relatively new to shipping and need a little advice on whether I should use a 20ft container or an LTL.

I am shipping mainly personal belongings, some of which could be palletized, some of which are too big.
I also have 3 pieces of machinery to ship, the largest being 8'x4'x4' and weighing 2400 Lbs.
The estimated total size of the load is 8'x8'x20' and the weight is around 7000-10,000 Lbs.
The shipment has to go from Toronto, Ontario to Victoria, BC approx 4400 KM. (must take the ferry from Vancouver).

From my reading it seems that LTL shipments are more likely to be moved around/re-loaded/change trucks etc, which is a concern because of the size/weight of some of the items.

So I have 2 main questions,

1. Am I going to have any luck finding an LTL shipper who would do this without changing trucks?
2. Should I just forget LTL altogether and get a 20ft container shipped via rail (did this last year, it cost $7000 for a 48' container)

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a lot,

-Kai

deposit shipper pays, do i get it back.

i hauled load today and it was 400.00 adn shipper paid 50.00 dep to uship adn 350 to me. do i get that 50.00 back once the load is delivered adn comfirmed by the shipper. if i am suposed to get that money back, how do i do it. someone mentioned having a paypal account adn they put the money in that account ( for me ) if so how would i get it back.

i just am not familier with paypal etc...dont mean to sound dumb, but i just dont know how this works and uship doesnt seem to want you to understand it either.

thanks,chris.

FLEXIBLE PICK UP SCHEDULE

Trying to be brief....

Being so new to this---I posted this earlier but in the wrong category--(my apologies)-----

I have 4-500 # of household goods (mostly personal stuff--not of any great value 'cept to me). I should be in Oregon for about 4 weeks, total, but I could poossibly extend the stay by a week, or so.

I'm a little concerned this may be cutting it short, as I'll need to pack and assess the actual number of boxes before posting a listing, here, then crossing my fingers that there will be bids. I should add that I can't afford failure; the boxes must be sent on their way during my stay in the US.

My questions: is that an unrealistic time-frame?; also, are there experienced overseas shippers, out there, who could tell me what I need to know about door-to-door shipping service, as well as customs issues [will I need to receive the boxes at the French port, for ex, before they can continue on to Paris?]

Thanks in advance!

compliant serv. providers

I am asking all compliant serv. providers to send Bill Oreilly an email about this site and I want Don reinstated as designated observer afterall he is our Leader!!!I think if we do this his asd will drasticlly improve!

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! He bid initially a couple of weeks ago, but only in the area for one day and said he would be doing another run in a couple of weeks. Since the bid expired, I can't contact him-and there is no request bid in his profile. Is there some other way to contact him? Can anybody do a shipment like this? The tricky part is that I won't have access to a loading dock in California so unloading the car might require a ramp. I do have access to one in Indiana.

The car is a 1990 BMW 535i. It's 186" long by 70" wide and it weighs about 3600 lb.
