Actually, Before i got my CDL I worked for a local moving company (including driving the truck)and I know that they had TXDOT#, but I don't recall MC/USDOT... Of course we didn't cross state lines either...

Under 26,000 running intra-state Texas you are NOT a commercial vehicle UNLESS you are hauling HHG or HAZMAT. If you are over 26,001 you must have a CDL regardless if you are hauling for hire or not.

If you cross a state line and are over 10,000 lb you ARE a commercial vehicle.

Much the same as Florida, with the addition of passengers to HHG and HazMat intra-state thing.

I got real familiar with Texas DOT regulations over the last couple of years, and I try to stay compliant and conversant with them.

The one simple rule to remember if you are hauling for hire is:

Under 26,000 running intra-state Texas you are NOT a commercial vehicle UNLESS you are hauling HHG or HAZMAT. If you are over 26,001 you must have a CDL regardless if you are hauling for hire or not.

If you cross a state line and are over 10,000 lb you ARE a commercial vehicle.

More of that skeery advice and it's wrong. ANYTHING for HIRE over 10,000 lb must have DOT/MC.

If he is a motorized carrier not exceeding 10001 lbs. he dosent need a dot# He dosent even need a cdl. if hes driving cars or pickups back and forth. He can even drive a commercial vehicle as long as it dosent exceed 10001 lbs.

What kind of commercial vehicles could he drive interstate hauling for hire without a DOT/MC? When would he require a CDL?

I think you have it all wrong if you are a shipper you are looking to ship something. If you are looking to Transport stuff for people you are called a TSP, NOW if you had DOT & MC NUMBERS which is required by FEDERAL LAW all you would have to do is input your DOT & MC NUMBERS where uship asks you to and they would import your info for you but something tells me you dont have them, AM I RIGHT?

If so dont get caught its a $10,000 fine if you get caught by the DOT COPS and they will IMPOUND your truck and everything else you have on your Truck & Trailer

I have sent an email and posted this problem on the boards, but have not gotten ANY help. Please, please, please help me! I need to register as a shipper, but when I put in a credit card I get an error message that the IP address is invalid. I really need to start bidding on shipments, but I cannot until someone at U Ship helps me get verified. PLEASE help ASAP! I don't know how else to get in touch with a help desk, and I need to get this resolved. Thanks.
