| Let me ask this quesiton. Suppose I sell a car and I include the delivery in the price. I list the car on here. I get a bid from a shipper and they aren't legal or insured. Who is liable if there is an accident and the car is destroyed?

Jroy96 (4/11/2007) Let me ask this quesiton. Suppose I sell a car and I include the delivery in the price. I list the car on here. I get a bid from a shipper and they aren't legal or insured. Who is liable if there is an accident and the car is destroyed? That is the sticky part!! It is going to be you! Untill that title is changed over it is still your car! I am a transporter as well as a dealer so you really have to watch yourself on here! If you keep it insured and you check your policy to make sure it covers it when it is on the trailer then you are ok. Not really the way to do it because you will still be liable for any damages. If the transporter gets stopped by the DOT and isn't legal it can add tons of problems the best thing to do is to go with a 100% legal transporter. It is worth payin the extra money for the legal guy and be safe and have no worries versus saving a few bucks by going with the illegal guy. The illegal guy can beat our quotes all day long because they don't have the overhead we do. Remember you get what you pay for.

| First of all, I wouldn't knowingly consider using someone that is not legal and doesn't have insurance. Secondly, our corparate insurance does not cover anything if it is not on one of our lots EXCEPT when is out for a test drive and has our dealer plates attached and is authorized verbally or in writing. The problem I'm encountering with uShip is that when I review a prospective carrier's profile and feedback, they indicate they have DOT/MC numbers upon request. The insurance information is all over the place, extra charge, not offered, $0.60 a pound so you can't determine anything from the profile. Those that have their numbers posted are easily verified but most of the offers I've received are really hazy. I just had an offer from one that indicated in their profile they were fully covered ($250K cargo/$2M liability). I was ready to accept their offer and ask for their numbers and insurance information. All of a sudden they're fully loaded. This has happened repeatedly where their profile states their all legal and insured but when you ask for confirming documentation or information that you can check out they give you a song and dance and never provide the information. I can understand if they don't meet the requirements and show it in their profile. That's easy, I can just avoid them. But when they lie about it in their profile it is just false advertising in my book. If I did that as a GM dealer I'd be in court everyday. I see the statement saying I'm responsible to make sure they're legal and capable but how can you do that if they don't have real numbers in their profile and then lie in their answers?

| It's a bidding process, do you make one bid at an auction for furniture, etc.? No, not usually. It drives me nuts when I see a bunch of newbies bidding 40 to 60% less than the first bid. I've delivered over 60 items for uship and several hundred from dealers and craigs list over the last year. I have no idea where some of these bids come from. I know what it takes to make a profit and there is no way some of these people are surviving. That's why you don't see their names very long, and that ruins it for everyone. If you are the first bid, by all means use your best calculations and judgement, but if there are bids in front of you, play the game. If you low ball existing bids, people see this and then everyone wants a ridiculous price. Play the game, make a little more money, if you are independently wealthy I doubt you would be doing this. Get all you can for everyone's sake.

| As the other poster said, you are going to loose if something happens to your car on his trailer, also your insurance company might not pay either since you hired an Illegal TSP. Plus the Supreme Court made a new law that will hold you liable for anything that happens while they are moving your car. So if he gets sued SO WILL YOU, check it out you can find out this info on the web and its been posted here many times. Another thing to do is ask the TSP to have his Insurance Agent FAX you a copy of his insurance coverage, dont take a copy from the driver make the Agent FAX it so you know its real. ( I knew a driver that made a fake one to use) thats why ONLY take it from the AGENT. Plus if you use a legal TSP you wont need insurance because we are required to have it, I offer it to all my shippers even if they dont ask for it. If you need anymore info just ask and if I can transport any cars you have in the future look me up. Tony
This is a message to all the people that are using this site to ship something USE A DOT COMPLIANT CARRIER ONLY Its the Federal Law that anyone that transports ANYTHING for any kind of PAYMENT MUST be a DOT COMPLIANT CARRIER. It doesnt matter if its as small as a BREADBOX or as large as a ARMY TANK the CARRIER NEEDS to be DOT COMPLIANT Ask for their INSURANCE COMPANY INFO before your shipment is picked up to protect yourself from loosing your item and call the company to check its a good POLICY, some have been know to make FAKE POLICY PAPERS UP. I am a Verified Motor Carrier By Stop Illegal Trucking dot com

The only thing one con do is bid a price that is not only fair to the cusumer but is also fair to you as well and stay with it remembering not to cheat yourself in the process. Also keep in mind no matter hard you try you are not going to make evryone that you come across happy. Becouse they were not happy to begin with. Bryanswild69
