| THANK YOU!!!! I was wondering if I was the only person/hauler/trucker who was concerned about this. I am new to USHIP and have only made two bids and only received one "vague/too late" response. PEOPLE, if you expect to have your stuff hauled you need to interact in the process! Also, diesel fuel is expensive and our trucks get, on average, around 6 MPG.

| .
Yeah, well, I was planning to, since he was the most responsive and had the best feedback. Then he put in a bid with a 2-day window but cancelled it in less than 24 hours, before I could accept. I appreciate y'all's input and insight, surely you can understand the caution of someone new to this site, not understanding if accepting a bid is the same as hitting the ebay buy-it-now button, or just what.... Good luck & travel safely.
NOT PICKING ON THIS SHIPPER........BUT IT IS SUCH A TYPICAL EXAMPLE OF THE SHIPPER'S FAILURE TO UNDERSTAND THE DYNAMICS OF THIS BUSINESS It is extremely unfortunate that the vast majority of the shippers utilizing uShip just do not comprehend the dynamics of the business. Far too many seem to feel it is like UPS, FedEx, etc. and they're just around the corner and will be right over the next day or whenever the shipper wants. Listen up shippers..........these TSPs are mostly independent truckers and these trucks move. The price you're quoted at 6:00 a.m may not still be available at noon. The trucks could be 300 miles from you by then. The lesson to learn is when you get a good offer........check the TSP's credentials (i.e. authority, insurance, equipment, references/feedback, etc) and if all is well respond promptly. I and most others have made bids and offers and then not hear back from the shipper for days. Then, several days later they may decide to accept. When you tell the shipper that you're not available or that you've cancelled your bid......they're confused and don't understand. Guess what shipper, I was in your immediate area when I made that offer and now I may be hundreds of miles away or I may have filled the space. If you're not going to be responsive and answer valid inquiries promptly and show common courtesy to the TSPs, then you shouldn't list on here or any where else. Don't expect the bid/offer to be valid for an infinite period of time. RESPOND if you expect service because for the most part, this is not your daily scheduled point to point carrier. If that is what you want call FedEx, UPS, DHL, Allied, Mayflower, United, etc and pay their prices.

I do "understand the dynamics of this business", as I stated earlier in the thread I used to drive over-the-road, and since then have logged a million miles locally (paid on percentage not clock). What is not easy for the new shipper on here is the way the site works, of having to pay the deposit before being able to make direct contact. And some people dont care to discuss all the details of a business deal on a message board rather than have direct contact. You talk about not being in the area anymore, and replies days/weeks later, AGAIN.....my shipment was almost a month out, the last contact "window" was slammed shut in less than 24 hours and after I had made numerous prompt & immediate responses to him; and I was visibly favoring dealing with him, as seen in this very thread after the recommendations. Should I re-post my listing so you can see all my timely responses?? I think this thread's topic, as was originally posted, and your response, apply more to the casual "window-shopper", I was serious about a deal but wary over this site's unclear guidelines.

If you don't fall in to the "vast majority of shippers" then you shouldn't have been offended. Every one certainly is justified in being hesitant about accepting a bid when they don't know the mechanics or processes. I'd suggest it would be wise to become knowledgeable before actually posting a listing rather than waiting until you have received bids and offers on your listing. As to your question of whether you should re-post your listing........I couldn't care less.

I did not post back to you because I was offended, but rather to clarify the Facts. As I posted in this thread, and as seen posting in the q/a on my listing, I made MANY q/a back & forth BEFORE bids happened. And Again, I did not sit "silent" for weeks until the TSP was out of the p/u area, it was prompt real-time responses for a shipment nearly a month in advance. But I am gladly paying an extra hundred dollars (over the bid I wanted to accept here) to use EagleOne, and I have been in direct phone contact with the driver since the first contact/quote.

What you are saying has to do with the bidder ( TSP )who has gone down the road and has not terminated his bid, and has left the impression that they are willing to still haul for the same price. The bidder ( TSP ) is at fault, not the shipper, lets get the facts straight ! ! ! Also the shipper is not conserned with your problems with fuel and all of your costs, and does not care if you can not haul at a cheaper price, which they are looking for. The ( TSP ) that gets the winning bid will transport for less than you. Why because they can ! bumpus

Wow........only took you eleven minutes to get that posted. But of course it still doesn't make any sense nor does it address the thread.
