I've sent a complaint to member support about this, but I wanted to get some feedback. I bought a truck with a bad tranny on ebay for $760. My first UShip service provider took my deposit but didn't do the job.
Now, I've used Freedom Transport out of Wichita KS, which is insisting on $20 a day in storage fees for about 40 days when I was incarcerated on charges that have been dropped. I couldn't contact them during this time. So a $250 job is now an $900 job -- more than I paid for the truck. Thank goodness I have the title.
What should I do? He wants $800 total. Is this the kind of people UShip uses? Where can I get a copy of the user agreement? What does it say about storage fees?

| Did the Carrier attempt to deliver during your absence? Was there a contract signed between you and the Carrier? If so, did it address storage charges if delivery wasn't possible do to NO fault of their own? http://www.uship.com/user_agreement.aspx 15. Transportation. redyz19 (12/13/2007) I've sent a complaint to member support about this, but I wanted to get some feedback. I bought a truck with a bad tranny on ebay for $760. My first UShip service provider took my deposit but didn't do the job.

What should I do? He wants $800 total. Is this the kind of people UShip uses? Where can I get a copy of the user agreement? What does it say about storage fees?Unfortunately, I'm afraid you may be stuck paying the storage fees..........or forgetting about the truck. If, they were forced to store the vehicle because they couldn't deliver it or couldn't reach you to make other arrangements, they're most likely entitled to storage fees.......and possibly additional "redelivery" fees. The crux is whether some action or inaction on your part caused it to have to be placed in storage. One thing you may want to check on is how much Kansas allows for storage fees. The maximum amount that can be charged for "inside" and "outside" storage is specified by Kansas statutes, although I don't recall the amounts. If you have a $700 truck and an $800 storage fee it may be better in the long run to just write it off if you can't work an amicable settlement with the transport company. Sorry for the predicament you find yourself in, but if it wasn't their fault......... you owe. .........Now I know people are going to start spewing out crap like "they can't charge you more than the agreed price".........."it is against uShip rules".........."report them to God and the universe"........."call the cops".........and a myriad of other worthless suggestions. But the fact here is they are due payment for the transport as contracted via your agreement (offer made-offer accepted). However, in this instance the storage fees were not a part of that agreement and therefore don't have sh** to do with uShip or its policies or rules. And for those that will tell you that US DOT considers with holding your property until you pay them to be an illegal act.......they're full of it too if the contract (oral or in writing) states that you must pay before receiving your shipment. Look at my "Contract Terms and Agreement" on my web site and you'll find provisions for that........including storage fees, redelivery fees, etc. And it was written by an attorney that specializes in motor carrier related law. Sorry, but in this case you're just going to have to suck it up and pay or forget about the truck. As far as the title, the state of Kansas also has provisions for them to obtain a title should they choose to go that route. It is quite similar to a "Mechanic's Lien" so having the title isn't much of an "Ace in the hole either. Good luck, but unfortunately yours probably just ran out for the truck..............

| So the big question is DID THEY PAY you the FEE's you were DUE? Otherwise I would sell it because she would not pay the bill, like Don said it runs in the same area as a CAR REPAIR LEIN.
This is a message to all the people that are using this site to ship something USE A DOT COMPLIANT CARRIER ONLY Its the Federal Law that anyone that transports ANYTHING for any kind of PAYMENT MUST be a DOT COMPLIANT CARRIER. It doesnt matter if its as small as a BREADBOX or as large as a ARMY TANK the CARRIER NEEDS to be DOT COMPLIANT Ask for their INSURANCE COMPANY INFO before your shipment is picked up to protect yourself from loosing your item and call the company to check its a good POLICY, some have been know to make FAKE POLICY PAPERS UP. Figured I would throw in my $0.02. My contracts I used were a modified edition of Don's, and here in the fine sunshine state we are allowed to store an undeliverable vehicle at a charge of $30 a day for inside storage and $20 a day for outside storage. After 7 days the paperwork process starts and at the end of the 37th day of storage a title is issued in the name of the towing and/or transport company and they are free and clear titles. I have a '93 Harley in my shop that was acquired this way. Also there is a kicker to all this, we can also file a lien for the unpaid bill and the customer will never be able to register another vehicle in this state till that lien is paid. Guess the moral of the story is be there when your having a vehicle delivered
