| I just jumped ship and went and bought a 3500 Dually, Dodge Ram 2004 4X4 6 speed manual a week ago. little did i know that there was a lot of regulations that comes with the decision. I have managed to get a US DOT 1738825 and an MC 636834 2 days ago. I have submitted company registrations for LLC formation today. I was wary about the calls I got the very next morning after the DOT approval, but about an hr ago I have applied online for $30 for a BOC 3. I am left with insurance. Now on this issue, if i get full coverage commecial truck insurance, will this be sufficient for the cars I want to haul. What rates do you think I might get? just a rough estimate please. I went to Big Tex today and they want to sell me a trailer brand new for $16K. I adamantly rejected the price from this salesman. I checked on Ebay and there is one i believe i might get if lucky on the bidding. i havent started bidding on it though. If you may help me with the pounds limitations. I do not intend to go over the DOT 26K to avoid the CDL deal. My Dually is listed as 12K pounds. does it mean the trailer has to be below 14K pounds? how about the factor of the triple axle factor as compared to the dual axle. The Big Tex salesman said if i get a triple axle i will always change the middle axle every 6 months or yearly coz they get busted easily. he sighted that wen turning the middle is dragged so damages the axle. Any input on his theory please? finally, what route do u think is the best. i am based in Dallas TX, and want to try the TX, NM, CO, NV, OR up to WA state. do you think its a good one? the milage is like about 1500 from say DFW in TX to Seattle WA. I am sorry i have raised so many issues all at once, but I really appreciate all the previous posts by yourselve kind people. trust me they helped me a lot, and i think buying the cars 1st was a good deal for me since i cant chicken out now. Wen i did my calculations with that route I noted above, assuming a $800 per car from TX to WA, or any pick and drop along the way, by the 3 cars, to and fro thats like $4.8K. If i manage to do that twice a week thats like $9K and in a month thats $18K. Is that a true calculation for gross income, and now how much u think the costs will be, just a whole rough estimate please. Thank you for your response in advance, and hope to meet along the trail. Wow... OK, well I'll tell you bluntly that you're not going to make the money you're anticipating. None of us "hot shot" drivers do. You need to browse through the forums and see if someone has posted the "cost per mile" worksheet. Also, you need to check with your state to see what the regulations for a CDL are... some states require a CDL-A if your trailer is rated for over 10k lbs. That's going to affect your insurance. Also, there are a few companies that will insure you to travel over a 500 mile radius, and it's expensive. If your truck + trailer are over 26k lbs, you're going to need to research IFTA and be prepared to have money aside to take care of this at first. Good luck, keep asking questions and you'll keep getting answers

| on the milage table i have seen a range between $1.15 to $1.50 per mile.so if it is a 900 mile trip thats, lets stay consevative, $900. what will be a rough amount a go getter driver might make, say a one way trip of 1K miles? i checked on ather boards and they offer good rates. last yr i bought 2 cars from Illinois to DFW, Tx and pd $600 for each car. that kind of gave me the zeal to start into this bus. with a 3 car hauler that will be $1.8K one way and another going back. $3.6K one round trip once a week, that will be $14K a month. is that more of a realistic figure? TX as long as u are below 26K pounds u be fine on the CDL deal. I intend to get a trailer below the mark since my truck is 12K on its own. Thank u for the reply. Kay-K

Ok, let's say you're actually keeping a log book and abiding by DOT regs... a low average is about 500 mi/day, so you're looking at around $35 for food and $50 for a hotel per day... for a 1k mi trip you're at $170. If you're taking a load off of uShip then you're looking at a shipper paying between 20 and 40 cents/mile, or $200-$400. If you can get 2 vehicles at $400 each then at the end of the trip you're looking at $630. Calculate fuel at 12mpg (we also have a Dodge 3500 dually) and at $3.50/gallon you're looking at $292 so just based on that your profit is around $338, not calculating in the cost of your truck, insurance, etc... you'll need to outsource business elsewhere in order to make ends meet.

Kay-K Alphastock Auto Haulers LLC TX DOT 1738825 MC 636834 I have a triple axle and he is somewhat right it is not the axle it is the fact that the middle tire tread gets wasted and blows out I have over 100,000 on my pace trailer and I am using carlisle e rated tailer tires and I seam to be having less blow outs and to tell you the truth I think I have come to the conclusion that is not so much the axle or the middle one it is all of them as when I make 90 degree turns it looks like the rear and front tire is going to rip off the rim the more wieght more the problem!GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS!

| Alphastock, I have a 2002 Take 3 for sale that is tagged at 14,500 gvw. I also use a Dodge 3500, and with this combo you will be right at 26,000lbs. This would keep you out of CDL land, as well as other areas that are a pain in the rear. I also want a lot less than $16,000 for it. Give me a yell if you want more info.

| In order to haul cars off of other load boards you will need $1mil liability and with a 3 car trailer you will need at least $150K cargo insurance. The cargo insurance is going to cost a lot but you should be able to join most of the other load boards once you are legal and you won't have to deal with this site exclusively. If you have to rely just on this site you will go broke quick. The Take3 3 car wedge is a very nice trailer, just make sure you check the gvwr on your truck. My 04 Dodge has a 12,200 # gvwr. That 14.5k trailer would put me over 26K. Good luck. If you can find my e-mail address I can hook you up with another helpful site. This time last year I was where you are now. Except with a 3/4 ton and a 2 car trailer.

| Hey Eddie, where does the difference come in on the Dodge's gvw? Mine is an '05 dually, and it's gvw is 11,500. Is there something different with the suspension? I figured they were the same unless something aftermarket was done. Is there a difference in gvw between the 2wd and 4wd? I guess I have never bothered to look.

I'm not sure what makes them different. I think long bed vs. short bed is a difference (mine is a long bed). 4x4 vs 4x2 may be a difference (mine is 4x4) and I think regular cab vs. quad cab is a difference (mine is a quad). I wish they had just made it an even 12k. That extra 200 is a pain. I plan on going over 26K eventually, but for now it would be nice to be able to buy a used 14k.

| Yeah I don't know. Mine is a quad cab, and also a long bed. The only difference in the two seems to be the 2wd vs. 4wd.
