Hi

I have agreed with a shipper to transport my 40ft motorboat. I now wonder if it´s possible to hire a "third partie" that can check the agreement and tell if something is wrong or missing, before I proceed. Since I´m from Europe, I guess it´s easy for me to "miss" some demands when it comes to ensurances, registration# etc.. I just want the shipping to work out without any surprises or problems. Therefore I guess the best for me is to "buy" the service of making a complete/proper agreement with the shipper, when possible...

I have read the "to do list" here on Uship, still I would feel better if someone experienced could help me out..

Thanks

You are the "Shipper", but of course you were told that in several other posts.  If the service provider you've chosen is the same as the bid you accepted on uShip....Good luck, but I wouldn't suggest holding your breath waiting for successful results.  I hope you're not making a big upfront payment!

Yeah, I see your point there.... What really surprises me is that this is pretty much the only offer I have got on the shipment!!!

To tell you the truth I don´t feel very comfortable with the service provider´s feedback either, anyway, It´s been six months since I bought the boat... Still I havn´t got an offer that feels 100% OK... I would just love to have someone working as a 3rd part, helping me out... Summer is coming up within a couple of months and I really feel that I want to get things together ASAP, but don´t have a clue of what to do...

I'm sure it must be difficult and extremely frustrating attempting to accomplish this shipment while being in Europe.  However, the are numerous reliable and well qualified companies available that can arrange the entire shipment from origin to the port, including the overseas shipment.  You can easily search for them and directly contact the companies, preferably by telephone...have you considered some of the well advertised companies such as

    BOAT SHIPPING INTERNATIONAL, INC.
     "From Boats to Yachts...Worldwide"
Specialists in Ocean Transport Providing Comprehensive Export Logistics

One additional thought....have you contacted local freight importer service companies that may be capable of arranging the shipment from that side?  Many US Freight Forwarders have agents and offices world wide that may be able to accomplish this shipment.  As much effort as you have invested trying to do this right, I would certainly hate to see you forced to settle for a company of unknown and unproven experience, especially if the company requires a large up front payment.  And when you introduce the fact that you're dealing via a neutral venue that has no enforcement power or influence over your contract with the company, there is much potential to get burned severely....... and have very little, if any, recourse.  It could be an expensive lesson to learn.  Good luck and I hope it works out successfully for you............but my suggestion is to continue to look for alternatives.

Thanks alot Don for taking your time to answer! I really appreciate!

However, I have checked with some other companies (Service providers), and no one (so far) can offer Cradle/Inland transport/Oversea shipping in one "package".... Some can offer inland+cradle and others cradle+oversea..... The swedish companies normally dont handle such big boats... So still I´m not REALLY sure, what to do... I have decided in ship within four weeks, when possible... This means that I must make a decission within a week...

    Thanks again
