| Hi, I need two cars shipped. I have tried listing them together and seperately. I put a target price, so that if someone needs a little more they can just ask. My delivery dates are flexible and I have requested a bid from just about 100 or so providers. I hate that they can't tell you why they declined because there are so many things that I might be able to work with. Anyways, Just wondering if anyone could give some insight as to why I might be having a problem getting a bid. Thanks so much!

I just looked and I think the problem that you may be having is that your target price is unrealistic! You probably need to be thinking more around the $4000.oo range for the both; and that is still a little low!
Good Luck!

Part of the problem you may be having also is the abundance of vehicles that are being shipped out of CA at the moment. Most carriers have a lot of choices there right now. If you will pay $1500, or $1600 each, that should get them moved. Carriers who can only haul 2 or 3 cars at a time will probably ask for more. You may get a little more personal service for your money if you go that route.

| Another big POSSIBLE NO NO is that the listing also indicates that the vehicles are packed with boxes? Could those boxes contain household type items? Note: Household goods authority and vehicle transport authority are separate from one another. This may be of some help to you Car transport link: http://www.uship.com/vehicles/articles/choosing-an-auto-transporter/Choosing an auto transport company can be an overwhelming experience. There are several ways to find a transporter—the phone book and the internet are the most commonly used resources. If you are moving, ask your moving company for recommendations but do not feel obligated to use the same mover for your household goods and your car. Transporting a vehicle takes special skills, equipment and insurance, and your household mover may or may not be the best option for transporting your car. You should also ask friends and family for references, as first hand experience is the best indicator of the service you will receive. Check for proper transport authority When searching for an auto transporter, a few minutes of research can save you from major headaches in the long haul. All auto transporters are required to be registered with the Department of Transportation and must have an active USDOT and MC number. The only exception are forwarders or brokers, who only have MC numbers. To check the credentials of a transport company, search by their company name or USDOT number at www.safersys.org. In addition to verifying that their USDOT and MC numbers are valid, make sure that the carrier is specifically credentialed to transport motor vehicles. Verify liability and cargo insurance Along with being registered with the Department of Transportation, all carriers are required to have liability and cargo insurance. Although the amounts of coverage vary, you should request written proof of a transporter’s coverage before hiring them. You can confirm insurance information on www.safersys.org or by calling the transporter’s insurance company. The insurance should be current and should adequately cover the value of your car. Ask about any limits on the insurance, and if it is necessary, request additional coverage. If the boxes contain HHG's you may want to use this link as well. List them and forget the target price, and leave it out, and let them bid. You don't have to accept there bid unless you want to. See what happens and let the bid over them. bumpus

| Great, Thanks everyone! This is my first time shipping so I didn't know what to expect about prices. THe shipping estimator on ship said 859.00. I'll take the boxes out, too. And try to ship them separately from the cars.

I'm one of those that you requested a bid from. I suggested that you request a bid from Eric at Hot Shot Transportation because I knew he was out west and would be running back to the east coast soon with a multi car hauler. I do have a few comments, hopefully they're constructive because they certainly aren't intended to offend you. One is that I agree that your target price is somewhat low. My bid, if I was in the pick up area at the time, would be closer to $1,350 each if I transported both at the same time. One thing that you may not have considered is the fact that uShip gets a hefty chunk of the bid price so there isn't all that much left that goes directly to the transporter. You may be able to get one or even both moved for less, but the quality of service could be disappointing. It would likely come from a TSP that is not a compliant, licensed, and insured motor carrier. There are significant risks associated with using that kind of hauler. Another thing that might surprise you, and Tim alluded to it before, is that legally, those boxes & contents should be manifested and listed on the Bill of Lading. On the same subject, I personally, would never transport a car containing boxes packed by the owner. In this business, there are many horror stories where some innocent driver got nailed for hauling contraband or illegal items that had been packed inside the car he was transporting. The other suggestion I would have is that you remove the statement "young family moving. Cannot afford u haul and do want want to risk driving both cars across country. " from your profile. I don't want to sound inconsiderate or unsympathetic, but it is a turn off for me. This is a business deal and some of the TSPs might like to help for that reason, but most won't because they're in business to make a profit. It might even carry the connotation that they could have difficulty collecting their pay. If one of the cars is operationally capable, you might consider towing the other on a rented dolly. That would be the least expensive way to get them to GA. One last thought, if this happened to be military move, some carriers might offer a discount. But if it isn't and you say it is, you may get a big surprise when the cars arrive. I always offered a discount to active duty military and I always checked ID cards. The 10% military discount was contingent on proof of their active military status and if they couldn't prove it, they paid the full amount. What ever you decide, good luck and I sincerely wish you a safe and successful move. .....Don
