someone just made a bid on my shipment who had no feedback score on their profile.  And they've only been a member on here for a few days.  Do I have any assurance that this person will do what they say they're going to do ?

I'm sorry to sound negative, but there is no assurance.  Blind trust... and also remember that everything in their profile is information they've provided.  It could all be true and accurate..... or it could be BS and lies.  I'd encourage you to use a compliant motor carrier.  Their information can be verified in the FMCSA's government database.  Interstate transport of most shipments requires that the hauler have a US DOT# assigned along with a MC#.  The MC# is essentially the motor carriers federal license (referred to as authority) to transport interstate for compensation.  Without those, they're doing it illegally.  Those numbers must be active and the insurance current.  uShip provides instructions and recommends that you verify that information for yourself since they don't.

Good luck with your shipment....

OOPS... I should have reviewed your listing first before commenting.  I see you're shipping cats.  The BS about the MC#, insurance, and FMCSA won't apply.  But be careful about handing over live animals to strangers.  There was a story on here once where a driver let a cat escape on the interstate in Tennessee.  Darn cat ran off in to a cornfield and was never seen again.  Poor driver looked for it until dark and even had some truck drivers help him look....still no cat was ever found.  He did deliver the lady's two dogs and didn't ever charge her for them.....  And he really couldn't understand why the lady was less than pleased.  There is one very reliable pet hauler that works this website and has lots of positive feedback.  I think it is Tonda and I think the company is Hillbullys or something similar.  If they're in the area, pick them.

Good luck with you cats..........

I remember that CAT STORY all to well Don. that had everyone laughing when he made that post. It wasnt funny for the woman that lost the cat but when he said he was running through the corn field chaseing that cat & had some truck drivers helping him that must of been a site.

Another reason I wouldnt think of transporting anything that looks back at me that is alive.

This is a message to all the people that are using this site to ship something

USE A DOT COMPLIANT CARRIER ONLY

Its the Federal Law that anyone that transports ANYTHING for any kind of PAYMENT be a DOT COMPLIANT CARRIER. It doesnt matter if its as small as a BREADBOX or as large as a ARMY TANK the CARRIER NEEDS to be

DOT COMPLIANT

Ask for their INSURANCE COMPANY INFO before your shipment is picked up to protect yourself from loosing your item.

I am now just using this site for ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSED ONLY and will not bid on or take a shipment from this site

Sure wish I could find that cat story again. That was some funny reading, you could just picture the whole scene by his narrative of it.

Every time that Cat story is mentioned I think about the Duck that got loose at the Hieperia, CA Pilot!!! You should have seen the drivers out there trying to catch it! And the talk on the ol' CB... Well, I'd get suspended if I put a transcript of that on here... hehehe

Think I may have that cat story beat. Just think about a 5ft lady chasing a tire that came off a trailer through a pasture with a couple of bulls chasing her. The details are hillarious! I am still out of breath from that one.

That is just flat out messed up, Jack. Had the tire been one of mine I would have left it but it came off one of my customer's trailers. A very expensive one, too (aluminum wheel). Studds broke off and the wheel rolled into the pasture. I felt the vibrations just before it happened and as I was pulling over it came off. The wheel rolls off into a pasture and stops about a foot from the bulls laying down. I hopped the fence and started to walk down to the tire and the bulls get up and start walking towards me. I turn around and head back for the fence and then they start running towards me. I get out of the field and my back up driver comes up with one brain wave of a plan. He figures he can come in from another part of the fence down the road and distract them while I grab the wheel. That part only worked part way. They saw him too soon and started chasing him before I could get in the fence and chased him up the tree. I made a beeline for the wheel and they started heading after me. He jumps down from the tree and starts yelling at them and now two of them are going after him and one is going after me and the tire is still where it sat. I made it outside the fence just in time but he is running through the field screaming because there is no where to go. I'm laying in the grass laughing my butt off when a highway patrolman rolls up. I told him what happened and now we are both laughing our butts off while he is running through field being chased by the bulls screaming. We both hop the fence and start yelling at the bulls and they break away from him and start walking towards us. Instead of him seizing the chance to go get the tire, he runs back towards the tree and stays up there just a cussing up a storm. One was behind me as I am running back to the fence and a couple were behind the cop. He makes it to the fence and grabs me over the fence. We turn around and notice my driver has now grabbed the tire and is running back to tree with it with the bulls hot in tow. Me and the cop are now out of breath, laying in grass laughing our butts off again and now the tire is in a tree with my driver. As we are yelling at the bulls I hear a loud crack. The tree my driver was sitting in snapped and fell over. Apparently that spooked the bulls because they backed away from the tree just long enough for him to grab a branch and the tire and start walking real slow back towards the road. WAY, WAY too funny! It looked like the tree was dragging the tire and walking away! A couple of the bulls were heading back towards him so we start yelling again while we are laughing ( not easy to do). The others just disappeared when the load crack rang out so we jump the fence and start making noise to get them away from him. They go after us so we are forced to run back to the fence. My driver drops the tree limb and starts running for the fence with the tire. He makes it over the fence with the tire right about the same time we did. As we are laying in the grass laughing away we notice  a bunch of people had stopped and were just rolling in the grass laughing and taking pictures. It took about a half hour to stop laughing. The only one not laughing was my driver. He was stewing in the background because people were laughing and taking pictures and his drawers weren't exactly dry (if you know what I mean). My ribbs still hurt from that one. The cop escorted us to the nearest exit in Dillon, MT where we got the parts needed and some new underwear and shorts for my driver. It's one of the more recent feedbacks in my profile. Read the uship story behind that feedback. Within a day we were rolling again and my driver smelled squeaky clean again!
