I dont have a sure date of pickup yet, some time around the last week of Aug.But things could happen at the trailer company that is building this trailer for me?I posted yesterday and got a few good bids from people that look good and say they are flexable.I would like to pick some one so they could maybe get a return load..There prices are above what the trip estimator says i should be paying but thats ok with me,i dont mind paying a little more to be fare. Its still lots cheeper than what the trailer company was going to charge.I guess my question is???Should i take a bid 30 to 45 days away from shipping?

You may want to check out some of those bidders. None have posted the required legal credentials to do the job. That may be the reason you're getting such attractive bids....don't you think?

Yes you can. In fact I prefer to know what i'm hauling next month. Use a licensed transporter for your shipment it will safe and insured on it's trip if something does happen you know how to contact them. Follow these links you can check out your shipping companies that you are choosing:
Direct links to assist you with the instructions above.

Provides you a company’s safety record & the list of commodities they have registered with the FMCSA to transport

Provides you a Carrier Insurance coverage information and the type of authority they hold.

NOTE: It’s the “MC” number that counts. The DOT # is simply a Government audit number and is meaningless without the MC number on an interstate transport.
Thanks for asking thats the first thing to do to have a good shipping experience.
Good luck Dale SHS

| Even though your listing clearly states that you're going to have a trailer transported, the UShip shipping tips for a boat are still applicable to your shipment when verifying credentials etc. It's the closest related commodity in the available Shipper tips provided by UShip. Just substitute the word trailer for boat. Boat transport link: http://www.uship.com/Boats/articles/choosing-boat-carrier/ When shipping a large boat or yacht, it is essential that you find a reputable transport company who has the proper equipment, experience and authority to safely ship your boat. It is your responsibility to ensure that the boat transport company you choose is reputable and that your boat arrives at its destination with no problems. Researching a boat shipping company’s authority, insurance and past business record will help you determine if you can trust them with shipping your valuable boat or yacht. Check Boat Transport Authority Before considering any boat transport company, you must check that the company has Federal Motor Carrier Authority and Federal DOT Authority. Any legal boat carrier should be able to provide their MC or DOT numbers, and any responsible shipper should verify these at www.safersys.org to make sure the carrier is registered for boat transport. Verify Boat Shipping Insurance Once you’ve determined that a transporter is legally authorized to ship your boat, verify their insurance. Request a certificate of insurance from the service provider. Any legal carrier is responsible for carrying a minimum of cargo and liability insurance, but you will want to verify your chosen carrier’s specific coverage. When evaluating a boat transportation company’s insurance policy, keep in mind the following: Double check any insurance information you are provided. Check with their insurance company or on www.safersys.org to make sure that the company is in fact insured and that their policy has not expired. Do not accept a carrier who says your boat will be covered under their Personal Insurance Policy. They must provide a Commercial Insurance Policy in order to carry property they do not own. Check that your boat transport company provides cargo insurance (NOT just liability insurance). This is the only kind of insurance that will cover your boat. Valuate your boat and ensure your boat carrier’s cargo policy offers coverage of equal or greater value than your boat. !!Protect yourself and your property!! Did you acquire and VERIFY the validity of your chosen Carrier's FEDERALLY MANDATED DOT & MC #'s as per the UShip User Agreement? http://www.uship.com/user_agreement.aspxNote: Did you know that NO active "MC #" = No COMMERCIAL insurance? OOPS !!!!!!! INTERSTATE" transport requires an ACTIVE "MC" number! You verify it at the Government's "REAL TIME" web site: http://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov/LIVIEW/pkg_html.prc_limain Still don't understand? Read this: http://forums.uship.com/Topic46915-14-1.aspx

HEHEHE Good for you Soma, make sure they dont try to tell you that they wont post them because someone will steal them and use them, (that's an old one) EVERY TRUCK IN AMERICA has them posted on the sides of there truck "IF THEY ARE A LEGAL CARRIER" so all someone has to do to steal a number is stand on the side of the road for 5 SECONDS and you can have all the numbers you want. If you read my Signature line you will see them posted as well as my profile & on the side of my truck. Note: If the carrier shows up @ your house with a truck and NO NAME & NUMBERS on the side of his truck "QUESTION THEM" and make sure that you get there INSURANCE AGENT to FAX you a copy of there INSURANCE COVERAGE BEFORE THEY PICK UP THE TRAILER, all COMMERCIAL INSURANCE AGENT's do this for FREE and you will be named on the policy to prove coverage. DONT & I REPEAT DONT take it from the driver because it could be a fake, only take it from the agent and call them to make sure they sent it and it matches up with the name that is on the FMCSA WEB SITE. OK I am sure this will get me flagged but just thought I would pass on the info. Good Luck with the Trailer Tony
This is a message to all the people that are using this site to ship something USE A DOT COMPLIANT CARRIER ONLY Its the Federal Law that anyone that transports ANYTHING for any kind of PAYMENT be a DOT COMPLIANT CARRIER. It doesnt matter if its as small as a BREADBOX or as large as a ARMY TANK the CARRIER NEEDS to be DOT COMPLIANT Ask for their INSURANCE COMPANY INFO before your shipment is picked up to protect yourself from loosing your item. I am now just using this site for ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSED ONLY and will not bid on or take a shipment from this site

| Hey I just looked and I see its coming out of Florida and thats where I live, I could do this for you and I see the type of trailer it is. My wife & I use to do this for 5 years in Ct, we made money hand over fist on the weekends @ the little league games. Those kids can eat chile dogs @ 8:00am like nothing. When the trailer is closer to being done give me a yell and like I say check out my NUMBERS on the web sites that everyone was talking about. Side Note "DON" YOU UP FOR A ROAD TRIP?

There must be lots of fake people on this site????I have been reading the uship stories and LOTS of those people have great stories about shipping things and every thing going fine??And very few of the people they used have a DOT# or MC#??..WHATS UP WITH THAT?..Is there just a lot of guys out there that ship this stuff with out those numbers?Does it cost to get those numbers?Or can those numbers be taken away because of driving or some thing happening? And they have to keep working so they just dont have them any more?....I dont get it???All these people posting cant be fake?..CAN THEY?
