I HAVE SPENT A LOT OF TIME READING ALL THESE BLOGS AND HAVE COME-UP WITH THIS CONCLUSION. WE ALL NEED TO WORK TOGETHER TO STOP THE LOW BIDDING ON THESE JOBS, IF WE ALL HAD MONEY WE WOULDNT BE HERE READING THIS. I BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF GOOD PEOPLE AND QUALITY SHIPPERS ON THIS SITE, LEGAL OR NOT. BUT I JUST CANT UNDERSTAND WHY WOULD YOU PLACE A BID ON A JOB, ONLY TO MAKE GAS MONEY. EVENTUALLY IT HAS TO TURN IN OUR FAVOR. KEEP YOU HEADS UP AND THANKS FOR LISTENING. PLEASE FORGIVE MY SPELLING

| I wasn't being rude. I am sorry if you took it that way. I was being a bit sarcastic and smarta$$ed. Heh if you can't laugh a little then why bother at all? The fact is many have called for several actions to help stabilize rates but it is a dog eat dog world and this industry is now no different than any other with regard to competition. I don't agree with the direction it's headed but heh people are still buying stuff they may or may not need and if someone ships it cheap then they keep buying. On the otherhand they (the laws) also have this thing against "price fixing" so if we were to "all stick together" we might end up in court in this backassword crazy country we call USA! baddeuce72 (10/28/2008)

| I ALSO AM SORRY I TOOK IT THAT WAY, I JUST SEEMS THAT FINALLY PEOPLE ARE STARTING TO REALIZE THAT BIDDING THIS LOW NOT ONLY HURTS THEM BUT THE INDUSTRY AS A WHOLE. AND YES I CAN LOL. I AM A LOCAL TOW COMPANY PROVIDER IN PA AND WHEN I LOOK AT THE RATES SOME OF THESE PEOPLE ARE BIDDING I WONDER HOW THEY CAN DO IT. I THOUGHT TO MY SELF IF I CAN GEY SOMEBODY TO DO IT HIS CHEAP, HELL I SHOULD SUB OUT MY LONGER TRANSPORT JOBS AND SIT BACK AND COLLECT PROFIT!!!! THANKS FOR LISTENING!

| Many people bidding like that don't think about tomorrow or that repair bill or even that big insurance bill coming in a few days. Eventually they wind up in a bidding pattern that forces them to rob peter to pay paul. Desperate moves.

Hey Man,
Robert was right. I don't think he ever intended to be rude at all. But like he said, this place has been open for some time now and the subject you speak of is old. Drivers have been saying this, among other things,for a long time to try and get the prices up. But as long as uShip allows for illegals to operate on this site, it will remain so. If they would encourage all shippers to get legal in order to work this site this would be a big step in leveling the playing field and then the only differences would be the service oriented transport companies would rise to the top. Thus making for a better industry and something to be proud of.
So, the only thing you can really do is to raise your prices because you can't do a thing about anyone else. When you go in to make a bid figure what it takes for you to make money and the profit margin you need to satisfy you and your company. Stick to your guns and don't back off it. Never lower your price. If the customer wants to haggle you down, don't do it. Stand your ground. If you don't get it fine. At leas you can look in the mirror and the faces of you family knowing you did the best you could.
The old adage applies here too, When one door closes , another will open. For me , the next door that opened was always better, especially knowing I didn't compromise myself.
