| I just found this site and had a few questions for anyone that is already in the business.I have read most of the good advice on here for getting started{allot of stuff not thought about, thanks.}and still had a few questions.I have lost my job due to the economy and have a 2001 Chevy 2500HD 4x4,with a gas 6.0LT engine with around 150,000 miles on it and was thinking I would like to try getting into the transporting thing, but not sure if my truck will be up to the job.I was thinking about doing one car/boat/camper/bike at a time until I can work my way up the food chain, but don't have a trailer yet.Can a person make a living starting that small with the insurance, fuel costs and ect. or will I need to go bigger? From what I've read here it will cost around 600.plus insur.to get started and about a few weeks time if all go's well.I want to do every thing legal and proper but the costs sound like it will prevent it,and I don't want to be someone else's slave so I don't want to do a lease type thing unless that is the best way to start. What do you think,is this a pipe dream or can it be done? Will all the advice for CDL,DOT and ect. apply here or will I be small enough to skip most of the stuff I've read?I'm just looking for advice, not bidding on stuff here so no one needs to start in on me about that.I know, and plan on getting a DOT#,and MC#, and insurance so that won't be an issue, but I don't have a CDL and want to skip all that if I can legally.I do want to cover my butt and do every thing legal but I don't want to loose my shirt and pay for things I wont need either. Most of the advice I've read here is for 1 ton trucks hauling three cars or more at a time. I was wondering if that is as small as a person can go and make a living at this?Any and all advice is welcome and thanks in advance for any advice given. Also any tips on what is best for trailer types, whether it's better to rent or buy one,or anything else any one can think of will be nice, thanks again.

| well, what I've read so far it sounds to me that weather it's a go-cart or a Caddy, one or twenty at a time,if I'm getting money to move it all the rules are the same.It also sounds like allot of running around for little to no money so I will just have to find something else to make a living at,this isn't a cash cow if you want to do it all legal.
